About MamaDuck Art

Hi! My name is Beth; and I’m a self-taught, nature-inspired watercolor artist who first picked up a paint brush when I was 55. I taught myself to paint by watching YouTube videos and lots of practice and discovered that I love painting nature subjects as realistically as I can. In the summer of 2021, I created MamaDuck Art. I believe feeling connected to nature is essential for peace and calm in a busy and sometimes chaotic world, so my mission is to create art that gently grounds you; reminds you of the beauty and wonder of this earth we call home; and connects you to the people, memories, faith, and/or nature you love. I hope you will bring a little nature inside and find connection and a little peace.

Art hasn’t been a part of my life until recently. Music was my creative outlet for most of my life, but a few years ago, when I was in my mid-50s, I happened upon watercolors and was hooked. I’m a logic-driven thinker who discovered her artistic creative side a little later in life. But as it’s often said, it’s never too late to learn something new and find a new passion. And so I encourage you - no matter what life phase you’re in - always keep learning. You just never know what you might discover and how it might change your life.

Why “MamaDuck Art?”

My family is central to my life and includes my husband, our daughter, and Asha… our newest Golden Retriever puppy, who is quickly learning to be my ever-present co-worker in the studio. And my studio name reflects that love of family. Back when our daughter was born, my husband and I created the codenames of “MamaDuck,” “PapaDuck,” and “BabyDuck” to humor our exhausted, weary, new-parent selves. So when I was ready to name my studio, I pulled from those days of new and joyous family experiences and settled on MamaDuck Art to reflect a new adventure for my family and me.

So welcome to MamaDuck Art!

I hope you’ll grab your beverage of choice, slow down and relax, and take some time to connect with nature as you peruse the pages of this site. Stay as long as you like; Asha and I are really glad you’re here.
